I bought this in 2022 when I was living in an about 200 square foot studio. I put ice in the tray, froze the filter and it did not cool me off at all. At least, no more than my fan at the time. BUT, that was because I was using the item under the wrong expectations.
I needed an AC to beat the heat wave and the high humidity. I packed this away and bought an AC on Facebook Marketplace for $50.
Fast forward to 2024, and I am now in love with this thing! I’m in a new apartment that’s basically in the attic. We’re currently in the midst of another heat wave. I have my AC running full blast, but there are areas where they just don’t have a wide range of affect. Which unfortunately consists of my bedroom.
Enter this baby! I once again froze the filter and added in some ice water and am enjoying the cool breeze blowing directly into my face. I have this right next to the head of my bed and it makes all the difference.
It is important to note that this is not the only fan in my room. I have 2 more on the left and right hand side of my bed, so I get a nice circulation going. The Artic Air is not the primary reason I no longer overheat at night or wake up sweaty.
What it is, is a good cog in the machine. It is a great PROXIMITY cooler. I think if you want to get the most bang for your buck, you need to measure how well it will cool like a 1-2ft area. For me, I just needed it to cool my head and pillow.
I’ve had another mini fan in the same place I now have the Artic Cooler. The Artic Cooler is better. I’ve used the cup of ice in front of said mini fan. The Artic Cooler is more efficient.
It’s compact. It’s easy to clean. I can easily move it to my work desk. It’s handling the current 86 humidity tonight. For $40, this thing is worth it. But it’s worth it to effectively cool that 1 to 2 feet area.
Please note I am using this with conjunction of:
+2 ACs in the Living Room on Full Blast
-(My Living Room is about 10ft away in a straight hallway)
+2 Fans on the Left and Right Hand side of my bed. Also running on Full Blast
The Artic Air Cooler was the missing piece of the puzzle I needed to keep myself cool. It will not cool a room on its own. It just picks up the slack while your actual AC and/or Fan does the heavy lifting.
If you want to purchase this item, you need to have a good expectation of what it can do. And I hope my review puts it’s quality into perspective.

I bought one of these at Walmart. Really liked it. Busted it in a couple of days. Got another one. Not quite the same. Finally figured out how to fill it without pouring water all over. Lights stopped working. Junk that one. Ordered third one from Amazon even though reviews were low. Crossing my fingers that this one will work for me.

I got it cause my dungeon master uses it for our sessions and keeps all us cool or room temp in a hot room.
So i bought the same one. My bedroom is bigger than our dnd room. It doesn’t cool down the whole room but it is next to me and helps keep me cool.
I love it.
Have not tried it with ice cubes or freeze the filter often

I bought this to aid in cooling down an extremely small bedroom – cannot fit more than a queen sized bed and two nightstands in it, only to shimmy yourself around to get to the bathroom – because the summer heat in Arizona is cray cray. Loved that it would be delivered same day (Metropolitan area for the win!). Had this little baby in 2 hours or less – and immediately opened it to set it up in said bedroom. Instructions suggest cartridge to be frozen. Well, that was a bummer; looks like I had to wait (story of my life). I soaked the cartridge, according to directions, and placed into freezer. Everything was ready for prompt usage in the am.
Next morning, I woke up, did my shimmy shimmy around the bottom of the bed, and in a blink of an eye, fed the cats and made my coffee. I took the cartridge out of the freezer and inserted it into my new Artic Air Godsend. Turned it on, and waited for the cool blast that would signal the end of hell itself….and waited….and waited……nothing. Sure, it was cool, sure there was a faint trickle of air escaping the vents, but nothing like advertised; I think I breathe harder walking to the front door. I thought, maybe it’s just in the wrong place…after all, isn’t it all about location location location? I placed the Artic Air so the air flow would be directed across the bed. And waited again (I think you can see a pattern emerging here). Still nothing. Then I remembered…Good Things Come To Those Who Wait…..I left the room, watched an episode of Enterprise (worse theme song ever! I WILL fight you on that) and returned with renewed hope. Nothing changed. I could see condensation forming on the vents so knew it had some temperature change but it definitely did not change the temperature in the room. I even thought it may have just needed a little help, after all, we get by with a little help from our friends, right? I placed a fan next to it, to give it a little more umphh, and STILL NOTHING!!!!! My heart sank, for the devil himself would be hard pressed to remain in this room during the day. In conclusion, this is not a buy I would recommend – save yourself the grief and buy a window AC unit. I know I am.
