…but don’t judge a watch by its face. A watch’s prime function is to keep time and this one has not done that from the get-go. Now I have the hassle of sending it back to the manufacturer, 3000 miles away, and hope they can make this watch work. Very disappointing, as it was a gift for my husband, who always wanted a pocket watch. For the price, i could have gotten a watch, maybe not as pretty, but one that was functional.

I think this is a great watch. I just have to remember to wind it once a day. Great and 17 jewels. I could not ask for better watch for the reasonable price. It looks great also. Everyone should have one that likes watches, and people who collects them. Great 5 stars

This watch is easily one of the best looking watches I have ever seen. It is very beautiful and easy to care for. And it is of fine quality. Expect this watch to be a fine addition to your collection.
But, as with many mechanical pocket watches, they are almost always less accurate than quartz watches and far more expensive. A nice pocket watch can be regularly off by a minute every several days or so and cost up to and far beyond $100, meanwhile a $15 quartz watch is off on average by 60 seconds in a month.
A pocket watch clearly does not come close to modern efficiency and even need yearly touch ups on the gears and such, so most people who own these watches do so for tradition, the beauty and craftsmanship and other such reasons.
The Charles Hubert that I own is off by about 1 minute every two days or so. This can be adjusted, such as the spring for winding might be too tight and loosening it slightly will help increase the gaps between needing to correct the time. Take it to a watch maker/repairer and they typically know exactly what to do.

I am revising my original review after the watch broke! It lasted about a month and a half shy of 2 years when the stem came off, making it unusable. The Charles Hubert warranty website states that this is not covered by the lifetime movement warranty, so I am left with a useless souvenir! I earlier wrote:
I’ve had this watch just over one year. It is stunning and always wows those who see it! It is also a serious timepiece, gaining about a minute every 2 to 3 weeks, quite good for a less expensive mechanical watch. The cover (which opens) is slightly misaligned, but not readily noticed.
The skeleton feature adds to the beauty and allows observation of its working. For example, by looking at the mainspring, one can see whether it needs winding. A nice way to relieve the pain a wristwatch sometimes causes me.

After just a month the gold finished was gone, then some problems with the time, now after just 5 months the watch is dead, also a small piece of the mechanism is loose inside the face of the watch. I was expecting more for this product, but sadly the brand did not deliver.

For what it is – a homage to the past – it is remarkable and eye catching. You’ll catch yourself staring at the gears and the designs on the back and inside of the watch. It’s a little noisy, but I guess that’s part of the novelty. Something about a pocket watches urges you to dream a little, as you watch the seconds hand sync with the mechanical movement. It’s like you have the whole world in the palm of your hand and it reminds you just how valuable each passing moment is. That, to me, is worth it.
