This guitar is very light, but the craftsmanship is top notch. It has a satin finish, which looks good on the natural woods. The tuning pegs are smooth, and seem to be quite good quality. The sound is bright and clear with very good sustain. Maybe the bass is not as strong as a more expensive guitar, but for a non-pro, it’s not so important.
When I first tuned it up (with the very nice included digital tuner) and played, the bass strings were buzzing. A common cause of this could be a neck bowed up in the middle. I looked down the neck, and it did seem to have a slight bow. I took the included Allen key, inserted it into the truss rod head (just inside the sound hole), and turned it towards myself a bit at a time, checking the neck after each adjustment. Sure enough, that fixed it. The neck was straighter, and the buzz was gone. So if yours has a buzz, don’t send it back…try to adjust the truss rod first.
The included extra’s are of good quality. The tuner is great, the capo works well, there are four colord picks, a stick-on pick guard, an extra set of strings, the carrying bag (rather thin, but does the job), and a small chord chart on one of the paper tags. There’s a cloth bag to carry all these extras.
It’s just a great beginner guitar and package, at a wonderful price.

This is not your grand-daddy’s guitar! I’m a big guy and this dreadnought is bigger than I am. As a newbie I was not prepared for that, but I am in love with the rich sound it brings. Please let me suggest that people do some research with guitars for beginners before writing bad reviews:
1. I learned that size does not matter: sit up straight and hold it properly, you’ll get used to it.
2. Practice your finger stretches, you’ll get used to it. It’s not like typing on a keyboard or playing a piano – those first frets can feel cavernous.
3. Be prepared to check your tuning and adjust your strings regularly for the first few sessions – it’s normal for the metal to adjust to the proper tensions. It ships with strings not at full tension; they should remain stable after they settle in.
4. If you come from piano or singing background, expect your brain to explode when you discover how many ways to play “one note” on a guitar. 🙂
The bundle with the DAG-1CS is great – the gig bag is sturdy with a flapped slot being a perfect size for a pocket folder of sheet music; a selection of picks in different thicknesses to learn which type fits your style; an easy to use tuner that has a wide viewing angle; hex wrench included to make adjustments to the truss rod in the neck. It was shipped securely with adequate padding. There are optional set up steps that help with string height (action) and other small customizing that will make it easier to work with but out-of-the-box it does the job. If this guitar absolutely is “too hard to play” then check out some videos about Guitar Set Up… it will save you some stress and stretching. This Donner guitar is a worthwhile investment that appears sturdy enough to last for some quality playing and learning time.

I ordered this while I was on travel for business, just to have a beater instrument to play in the evenings. I’ve played guitar for several decades and have a nice stable of instruments at home. I have other Donner guitar-related products (pedals etc.) at home and have always been happy with their gear. It’s decent quality gear at a good price. This “beginner kit” seemed like it would fit my needs – it has not only the guitar, but bag, strap, capo, picks, tuner, spare strings, allen wrench for adjusting neck relief, and polishing cloth.
The guitar is very very nice! Best I can tell, the top is not laminate, but is solid wood (specs say it’s sitka spruce, and I could believe that). Sides and back may be laminate, but I don’t think so. Fit and finish on the joinery and inner bracing look really good. Fret ends are nicely smooth and polished. The guitar was nicely packed and padded and was in great shape when I unboxed it. Strings were fairly slack (which is how a guitar is supposed to be shipped). I tuned it up and stretched the strings and the tuning has been rock-solid ever since, going on 36 hours of ownership, now. The neck relief needed a little bit of adjustment. The nut slots had the strings sitting a little high off the first fret, not terribly surprising given that it’s a $150 mass produced guitar, but not at all a dealbreaker, either. The bridge is compensated and sits a little high, lending a slightly high action for the instrument. When I go to change the strings, it’s easy enough to pull out the bridge and sand it down on the underside to lower the action by about half a millimeter…that’s a 20 minute job.
And…it sounds and plays really really well. It sounds like a dreadnought! Plenty of low end, projecting midrange, easy fretting with no buzzing. This instrument is a steal for what I paid for it.
The extra bits are hit or miss, generally OK.
– gig bag is not very padded, but it covers the instrument and provides some protection.
– strap, picks, polishing cloth are nothing special – they get you up and running as soon as you unbox, but you’ll probably want to get better picks and strap.
– I can’t comment on the extra strings; I haven’t used them yet. They’re 11-gauge (light acoustic). I’m sure they’re fine, I assume they’re the same ones that came on the guitar, which are perfectly serviceable.
– the tuner was non-functional, but it wasn’t a big deal…I have a tuner app on my phone…so no big loss
Overall, five stars for the guitar. The guitar, and the overall kit, is perfect for a beginner…or really any player. I consider myself an advanced player and I just wanted an inexpensive instrument to play while on business travel. I wasn’t expecting boutique quality; but this is a very playable instrument that’s a steal for what I paid for it.
If I had a suggestion, maybe it would be to leave out some of the extra bits (tuner, strings, strap) and upgrade the gig bag.

Als Gitarreneinsteiger , habe ich nach einer preisgünstigen , aber qualitativ guten Gitarre gesucht und wurde hier fündig .
Die Gitarre kam zügig an und wurde gleich ausgepackt .
Sie ist sehr wertig verarbeitet . Den Klang finde ich sehr gut .
Das Stimmen klappt super mit dem beiliegenden Stimmgerät das einfach angeklippt wird . Dann auf G für Gitarre einstellen und die Saiten zupfen . Liegt der Ton richtig zeigt das Gerät den Ton und wird grün .
Das Kapotaster ist auch einfach anzubringen.
Die Tasche ist wertig verarbeitet und so kann man die Gitarre geschützt überall mithinnehmen .
Kann diese Karte wärmstens weiter empfehlen .
