This is by far the best watch I’ve had my hands on, and this seller is amazing. I highly recommend the purchase.

I really like this dial. It is the best in my opinion. But the watch overall is pretty nice and a great value. The 38ish mm diameter is a really great size. It is the right size for this dial and case design.
I was looking for something with gold hands and accents and this hit the mark 100%. And my favor dial color, green is the cherry in top. To be honest tho, the green in this dial is dark and the patterns are a little hard to see indoors.
Ps. I also flipped the bracelet. I can’t deal with the excess strap on the inside. Still works perfectly.

Watch arrived as expected. Beautiful watch. Fast shipping. Would purchase from Watch Gala in future.

The watch is incredibly beautiful and feels great in the wrist, the overall quality is very good and looks more expensive than it is. I will not focus on the shiny ugly leather band, as the other reviews did. I already bought together with it a black croc leather strap and switched it right away.

With the alternating Arabic numerals and shark teeth hour markers, it doesn’t feel too dressy, nor too casual. They’re raised in gold so they catch the light nicely too.
The watch dresses down more easily than I thought and doesn’t exactly feel like a dress watch to me. So I found myself wearing it as an everyday watch.
I also noticed the dial catches direct sunlight very nicely, but the intricate pattern is almost completely lost in an indoor lit setting, which is a shame since with its “cocktail time” name, it’s intended for those settings.
It’s extremely comfortable due to its slim size as well, I just wish it had a sapphire crystal because the box hardlex makes me nervous. At first I wanted a flat or domed crystal, but the box profile actually looks very nice here.
Pros:
– gorgeous dial
– great hour markers and hands
– box crystal looks great
– perfect size and thickness for smaller wrists
– mix of silver and gold works surprisingly well
Cons:
– original strap looks like plastic but is easy to replace at 20mm
– hardlex crystal
– crown is hard to grasp
– dial doesn’t impress in dim/artificial lighting
– only a 4r movement (nitpick here)
Measurements
– 38.3 mm case size excluding crown
– 45 mm lug to lug
– 20 mm strap width
– 9.4 mm thickness excluding crystal
– 12.1 mm thickness including crystal
– 4R35B movement
Note: the model number doesn’t have J1 in it, but the caseback and movement, and dial say “made in Japan.” Not sure what that means then

It was love at first sight for me. This green dial is phenomenal and after just three days of wearing it, I have lost count of the compliments it has received.
IMO the wrist strap is poor. I also ordered a Barton replacement 20mm classic black leather with gold buckle and that looks and feels so much better than the stock strap. Many online reviews complain about the lack of the sapphire crystal (which is tougher than the stock) especially at this price point, but so far, so good. I’ll primarily be wearing this when I am dressed up, which is not that often (I’m retired – no day job) so I am not that concerned. And really, if I (or you) wanted to, the sapphire crystals are not that expensive and could be easily added. This is not a diver so keep it as dry as possible. It is rated to just 5 bar so an occasional splash or a few rain drops should be AOK. Just don’t shower with it. 😉
The users’ manual is a download from Seiko. It is very easy to set (there are a few rules to follow for the date function) and after three days it has kept perfect time to the second. The second hand can be stopped so there are no issues to set to an exact time. It is automatic but can also be hand-wound (consult the manual) easily enough. I registered it on the Seiko web site – easy-peasey, for the three-year warranty.
I absolutely LOVE this watch! It is my one and done for a dress watch.

What I like most is the simple but elegant classic design and the Seiko reputation for quality and reliability has to count for something.

This is a great automatic mechanical watch for just little over 300 USD. As is known to the watch community, Seiko is an ancient watchmaker that existed the same time as Audemars Piguet and even before Rolex and has an amazing horological value in the history. Seiko had seriously shaken the Swiss watchmakers and caused the historical Quartz revolution. So I won’t even bother with the word “fashion watch” on this one because this is not, as some other reviewer described.
For little over 300 USD, you are getting the Seiko 4R35 movement, (not the 6R15 as they used in the JDM counterpart), which is decent, with about +6S/day on the one I got. This is right on the edge of COSC +6S/day for the standard of the Swiss makes. So I’ll say the accuracy is not that great but good enough. In case you don’t know, only 3% of the Swiss makes are certified by COSC anyways. The dial of the watch is very detailed, especially the beautiful sun ray pattern, each ray covers exactly one minute. And if you look closer to the dial, all the metal parts are finely polished. The dial is in silver/grey color, not as blue as showed in their official pictures. And I think this is one problem of most of those good old brand, that they cannot take a good picture of their watch what so ever. Under the sun, it has a very faint blue tint, and that is amazingly beautiful. The hands are craft in the attention to details as well, the second hand is slightly bent at the tip to compensate the shape of the dome glass. From the back, you can see the movement and the very carefully polishing pattern on the parts as well. The second hand is hackable, and you can also manual wind the watch instead of rely on your body movement to auto wind it, which added a little bit more fun to it.
Of course there are shortcomings of this watch. First of all, I’m not trying to compare this “Seiko” with “Grand Seiko” or “Credor”, which are the two luxury brands under Seiko, since the price are not even on the same level. But overall, this might be the best mechanical watch you can get. The Hardlex crystal is little bit disappointing, but I understand Seiko is trying to segregate the lower end watch with their Grand Seiko. The hour and minute hands are slightly misaligned, but you won’t really notice it unless you are doing a serious review and put the watch under microscope like me. And the OEM strap is as bad as their JDM counterparts. Corners have been cut in order to achieve the price point. So if you got the watch, unless you really like the plastic feeling blue stitch strap that is borderline offensive, get a real alligator or lizard strap and it will look great and fit most occasions.
